Quarantined doesn’t have to be all bad.

My 6 year old's said Oh, mama I can't draw either, while I was showing her what to do for her schoolwork.
I know we all have complained about one thing or another during COVID-19 canceling so many of our plans or disrupting our lives as we knew them. I’ll be the first to admit I didn’t think it was that big of a deal in the beginning and I tried not to panic or get worked, at first.
As a mom that writes mostly from home I only knew I didn’t want to loose those school hours that I dedicate to my writing. instantly I became a teacher and I knew years ago that wasn’t my role, but we’re hands on parents no big deal right? Wrong!! I just can’t be with these damn kids 24 hours a day 7 days a week without any breaks.
Let me say this, I love my kids dearly, but I learned what I don’t like about them and I learned that we need time away from each other, I also learned that not having them in their various extracurricular activities is a nice break not having to run and be in three different places (softball, basketball, and gymnastic) but that extra energy is not to be bottled up in four walls. These new kids are not use to being still and not having outside social contact. They have always had places to go and things to do, so telling them they can’t go is punishing the parents. I’m the mom with the board games and UNO cards and fun and games and even exercise daily but I am also the mom that says “Let’s go to an amusement park or movie or out to eat.” I’m fresh outta ideas. I want out but I’m a born germaphobe so I get the social distancing and I’m okay with that.
I say this to say moms and dads, we are not alone other parents are at their wicks ends but we are building bonds and making memories that are priceless. So enjoy them while you can because soon they will be going off to college or becoming teenagers that don’t like you and think you’re dumb.
I know I have a spoiled brat, and evil forte night playing teen, and a mean boring I just wanna go to prom and have a graduation senior. But I haven’t had a bottle of wine all week and I can’t sleep at night. But I’m getting some important things accomplished.
So hang in and get creative.
